Video Essay for Communications, Culture and Society

In the 21st century, the video essay has emerged as a vital form of audiovisual thinking, using images and sounds to explore ideas beyond the limits of written language.

In response to the theoretical and cultural reflections within the Video Essay for Communications, Culture and Society, students at the Università della Svizzera italiana create analytical video essays that translate concepts into moving images. Through experimentation, screenings, and collective discussions, they explore how thought becomes visible in audiovisual form.

Course taught by Prof. Kevin B. Lee and doctoral assistant Flavia Mazzarino at the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI).
