The Dark Rooms of AI ♯3
Video EssAI. Carte blanche to the research-creation group The Video Essay: Memories, Ecologies, Bodies.

From one medium to another, we find ourselves at the heart of a perceptive adventure undertaken by the video essay research group to explore the gaze of the machine as well as the “glitches” that AI introduces into cinematic images.

This film and discussion program, conceived by Alice Leroy, film critic and visual studies researcher, explores the material and social dimensions of artificial intelligence, far from the usual representations in commercial cinema that reduce it to a replica of the human brain or to an abstract, disembodied entity.

Through documentary, experimental, and artistic films, the series deconstructs technophile myths and proposes alternative narratives, questioning in particular the “artificial” nature of AI and expanding our conception of intelligence. Each session begins with an older film, offering a retrospective perspective on contemporary issues.
