Kevin B. Lee & Libertad Gills,Video Essay About Alice Diop (2024)
Exploring the films of Alice Diop through critical and poetic forms, this series of video essays engages with her cinematic treatment of place, identity, and lived experience. The works respond to Diop’s blending of documentary and fiction, drawing out resonances in her imagery, rhythm, and political urgency.
Created for L’immagine e la parola at the Locarno Film Festival, each essay reflects a unique encounter with Diop’s work – shaped by the knowledge that she herself would be in the audience.
