Silvia Cipelletti, Algorithmic Borders (2025)
This video essay arose from the process of experimental videographic research within the doctoral project Videographic Approaches to the Border. In this context, the video essay delves, on various levels, into the challenges of border crossing: geographical, mediatic, metaphorical, and human.
In an initial aim to question the use of artificial intelligence in border control, the video essay allowed me to plunge deeper into the experience of interfacing directly with AI – a first encounter, a first crossing of a personal, intimate boundary of cynicism, skepticism, and resistance towards generative AI, and the spectrum of critical issues and shadows it casts on the (border) landscapes of the future.
